Castagno Miraglia

Near Camaldoli stands the mighty Castagno Miraglia, at least 500 years old and completely hollow inside. The Miraglia chestnut tree is about twenty meters high and has a circumference of nine.

For the Park, the conservation of nature is a fundamental objective and some integral reserves have as their sole purpose the absolute protection of portions of mountain territory: this is the case of the Integral Reserve of Sasso Fratino, where there are numerous monumental trees and can only be accessed for scientific research reasons. Near Camaldoli stands the mighty Castagno Miraglia, at least 500 years old and completely hollow inside. The Miraglia chestnut  tree is about twenty meters high and has a circumference of nine. At Verna there is a suggestive monumental forest of beech and white fir, as well as in the Lama Forest, Campigna and in the surroundings of Badia Prataglia where there is an arboretum with ultra-old trees.
