San Paolo in Alpe

A splendid plateau overlooking the Giogana that starts from the Passo della Calla and, with breathtaking views on both sides, leads to the Gioghetto above Camaldoli. A place of great naturalistic and historical charm, San Paolo is one of the best places for the ungulates spotted. The remains of the church and the casone is the evidence of the man presence and activity, until the second post-war period. The place is also full of history, in fact it was a field of launch of the allies during the Second World War and particularly in the period of the Resistance, here the planes threw ammunition and provisions for the partisans who fought on these mountains.
