05 - From monumental trees to the pilgrims' route

Badia Prataglia – Frassineta – Biforco – Serra Pass – Mandrioli Pass- Badia Prataglia
Very demanding itinerary, perhaps the most demanding of all this guide, especially because of the long climb from Serra to the homonymous pass, to be done with the hand bike along an ancient mule track, uneven and not cycle. The historical interest is remarkable since it is the way once traveled by pilgrims to La Verna and then to Rome. The route is certainly worth an additional effort, also because of the beauty of the environment, between meadows and beech woods. Moreover, monumental trees – from the horse chestnuts of Frassineta to the rowan and Turkey oak from Podere Fatucchio – dot the entire route.
