09 - In the shadow of Falterona

Castagno D’Andrea – Piancancelli – Giogo – Tre Faggi- Casone – Castagno D’Andrea
Superb ring ride, of absolute beauty, not as long and tiring as it might seem at first glance on paper. The climb is there, all right – the difference in altitude exceeds 1000 m! – but it is gradual, partly on asphalt and partly on a long but not very steep forest road. The central section is more rewarding than ever, on the splendid track that closes the head of the Rabbi valley at the top, from the Giogo di Castagno to the Tre Faggi. The return, on a sometimes steep path, requires attention.
