Sacred Forests - Stop 7: Rimbocchi - La Verna

Seventh and the last stop, from Rimbocchi it continues to Chiusi for a short distance, then crosses the stream and goes up to Casalino; then a steep climb leads to the ridge and from there it passes the road that surrounds M. Penna. In a short time you reach the foot of the cliffs, crossing ancient landslides surrounded by the forest, until you get to the base of the cliff, at the top of which the buildings of La Verna overlook. Through a gate, you walk on  the ancient paved path that goes up from La Beccia, the main pedestrian access to the Sanctuary. Along this road San Francesco went up to the mountain for the first time almost eight centuries ago, welcomed by a flock of birds in celebration.
