Castagno d’Andrea

The town, located on the Florentine side of the park, is the ideal base for excursions to Falterona, Falco and Acuto Mount. Castagno is the birthplace of the painter Andrea del Castagno, a great Florentine Renaissance artist and a permanent exhibition in the Park Visitor Center describes his work. The landscape around the ancient town is characterized by extensive and evocative “chestnut woods”, woods of centuries-old chestnut trees cultivated for the production of chestnuts.
