Oia and upper Casentino valley

The Oia Valley and the upper Casentino are characterized by a riparian forest environment of black alders, willows, poplars, hazelnuts, chestnuts trees up to the beech trees in the most summit part, where Cascina Oia is located (967 m). Further upstream, in the “Terre Rosse” hillock, a memorial stone remembers the shooting of an unknown partisan in April 1944 by the Nazi fascists and thus makes the Oia house also a “place of memory”.
