Pietrapazza

Pietrapazza rises in the municipality of Bagno di Romagna, at 613 m in the Bidente valley, surrounded by steep rock walls where there are scattered houses, now uninhabited. A little church and small building, both renovated, as well as a few ruins on a knoll on the other side, recall the life of the past in these mountains. The Grand Duke Leopold II described the places in the mid-nineteenth century: ” Sugli spigoli acuti delle propaggini del monte si vedevano miseri paeselli con le chiese: San Paolo in Alpe, Casanova, Pietrapazza e Strabatenza”. The Pietrapazza valley has the extraordinary charm of a wild nature that still keeps intact the signs of the ancient presence of a poor people tied particularly to its land; it is suitable for people who want to go hiking in a solitary nature.
